Look Good, Feel Better Volunteers to provide Make-up for models!

I'm pleased to announce that Volunteers from the Look Good, Feel Better program in Newmarket will be donating their time to provide the make-up for our models for their photoshoots!
An update on hair salon(s) will follow shortly.

Welcome Look Good, Feel Better to our fundraising adventure!  We're very excited to have you on board!

  1. Hi Julie,
I am 42 years old with a 7 year old son who is a cancer surviver twice over and I have a 12 yr daughter. I was diagnosed on Aug 20, 2009 with a localized advanced rapid growing 9cm tumour. It hurt me to breath deeply, the tumor was so painful and heavy, I could not stand it anymore. I had a modified radical mastectomy last Monday, Sept 21. I am so glad I read your article in the Era Banner prior to surgery. It gave me courage and I didn't feel so alone. I was hoping I could be part of your calendar this year, but it looks like it is nearly full. If you can fit one more in that would be great. If not, maybe next year.
I finished the 5km Hartwell run in Aurora with my daughter this past April. I plan to run again someday soon to continue to raise funds for cancer research. Thank you for sharing your experiences with others. All the best to you and your family,
    Sharon Cicciarella,
    Newmarket, Ontario

  2. Stay strong Sharon. You know, as much as I had some very difficult days and felt completely miserable at times, I don't know that I would change the diagnosis even if I could go back in time. I have come to accept that there is a reason this happened to me and I need to make the most of this experience. I just cannot sleep at night thinking that I will have suffered for nothing. Don't get me wrong, I have been completely insufferable at times and there were moments I didn't even want to be a wife or mother or even exist but I never let go of the fact that life is a journey and everything happens for a reason.

Hang in there and be strong.
I wish you all the best in your recovery.
